Zoo Ave (Rescate Wildlife Rescue Center)
Zoo Ave, also known today as the Rescate Wildlife Rescue Center, is located in Alajuela, Costa Rica. It operates as a sanctuary and rehabilitation center for injured, orphaned, or confiscated wildlife, with a mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and release native species back into their natural habitats whenever possible.
The center is also open to visitors, offering a unique opportunity to see Costa Rica’s diverse animal species, including birds, reptiles, and mammals, while learning about conservation efforts. Unlike a traditional zoo, Zoo Ave emphasizes education, sustainability, and wildlife protection, making it an ideal destination for eco-conscious travelers and families interested in Costa Rica’s biodiversity.
The facility plays an important role in environmental education, research, and conservation programs. Visitors can walk along shaded trails, explore the lush landscapes, and observe animals that are unable to be released back into the wild due to injuries or other conditions.
