Introduction to FBCCI – The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry
The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) is the apex trade organization of Bangladesh, serving as the central voice of the country’s private sector. Established in 1973 under the Trade Organization Ordinance (1961) and the Companies Act (1913), FBCCI plays a pivotal consultative and advisory role, safeguarding the interests of business communities and promoting trade, industry, and investment.

Broad Objectives and Functions
FBCCI works to:
Promote and safeguard private sector interests through effective consultation with the Government.
Encourage trade, commerce, industry, agriculture, tourism, and investment in Bangladesh.
Support skill development, technical education, and research for industrial growth.
Organize trade fairs and exhibitions across the country and abroad.
Strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation through joint chambers and agreements.
Promote Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and joint ventures by identifying global partners.
Represent the private sector in government committees, task forces, and economic forums.
International Relations
FBCCI maintains strong global connections with leading international organizations, including:
ICC (International Chamber of Commerce)
ICCI (Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry)
CACCI (Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry)
SAARC CCI (SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry)
It also works with UNDP, ESCAP, UNIDO, ITC, GATT-UNCTAD, and other global trade bodies. Currently, FBCCI chairs the BCIM (Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar) Business Council.
Additionally, FBCCI has joint chambers or cooperation agreements with over 60 countries, including the USA, UK, China, India, Japan, Germany, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Canada, France, and many more—building strong bridges for international trade and investment.
