Norban Altilium Limited (NAL)
Norban Altilium Limited (NAL) was incorporated under the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms (RJSC) on 19 January 2020 and later registered with the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (PR-Ka-H-202011-S-0001) on 6 December 2020. As part of Norban Group’s ambitious sustainability vision, NAL is working to establish an environment-friendly lithium-ion battery assembly plant in Bangladesh, producing lithium-ion battery packs as a modern alternative power storage solution to support the country’s growing energy needs.
NAL’s corporate head office is located in the commercial hub of Gulshan-1, while the assembly plant is being set up at Block-III of Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City, Kaliakoir, Gazipur. This initiative aims to strengthen Bangladesh’s clean energy ecosystem by improving access to reliable and efficient battery storage—an essential component for renewable power, telecom backup, and electric mobility.
Currently, Bangladesh remains an import-dependent market for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), supported by a widespread distributor network. Most demand is met through imports, primarily from China, followed by India, Singapore, and the United States. However, local demand for LIBs is expected to grow rapidly in the coming years, driven by government incentives for renewable energy, the legalization and expansion of electric three-wheelers (with an estimated ~500,000 already operating in rural areas), the telecom industry’s shift from lead-acid batteries to lithium-ion solutions, and the country’s broader transition from lead-acid to lithium-ion technologies that began around 2017.
