BiBEAT Limited is registered with the Government of Bangladesh as a Company Limited by Guarantee—an ownerless social enterprise designed for long-term self-sustainability, where no individual can take shares or claim profits. Established in 2013, BiBEAT was created to ensure that innovation serves people first, especially in healthcare and wellbeing.
BiBEAT works under a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Biomedical Physics & Technology (BMPT), University of Dhaka, to manufacture and distribute technology-based products developed by the department—particularly solutions focused on health, wellbeing, and social impact. The organization is also closely connected to its sister concern, the Relevant Science & Technology Institute (RSTI), which was established by the Relevant Science and Technology Society, Bangladesh to conduct research and development on relevant and appropriate technology.
Quality and safety are central to BiBEAT’s mission. BMPT and RSTI provide oversight to ensure that BiBEAT’s products meet international quality and safety standards, strengthening trust and improving adoption across communities. A defining principle shared by BiBEAT and BMPT is their commitment to not patenting innovations, so that people worldwide—especially in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs)—can benefit from these technologies without barriers.
BiBEAT’s impact and innovation have been recognized through multiple national and industry awards, including: iDEA STARTUP Bangladesh Award (2017) from the ICT Division of the Government of Bangladesh, IDLC–Prothom Alo SME Award (2021) in the Health category, and the 2nd HSBC Business Excellence Award (2022) in the category “Best in Innovation & Technology.â€
