Agro Processing Sector in Bangladesh: A Growing Export Opportunity
The agro processing sector in Bangladesh has been identified as one of the topmost thrust sectors under the Government of Bangladesh’s export policy. With strong support from both government and non-government organizations, this sector is steadily expanding and contributing to the country’s global trade.
The Bangladesh Agro Processors’ Association (BAPA) has played a vital role in promoting agro-processed products worldwide. Through continuous participation in major events such as Foodpro, the Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF), and international trade exhibitions, BAPA and its member companies showcase Bangladeshi products, build global networks, and exchange knowledge and technology with international partners.
Beyond trade promotion, BAPA actively focuses on skill development, food safety, and supply chain standards. The association organizes training programs, workshops, seminars, and motivational events to ensure quality from “field to table.†These initiatives help stakeholders maintain international food safety compliance, making Bangladeshi exports competitive and acceptable across global markets.
Today, Bangladesh exports agro-processed products to more than 144 countries, a testament to the sector’s rapid growth and global demand. With continuous innovation, capacity building, and government support, the agro processing sector is set to remain a cornerstone of Bangladesh’s export economy.
